Description
Rubberised bitumen emulsion curing compound & foundation protective coating
Uses
A cold applied rubberised bitumen membrane for use as a curing compound and which provides a permanent damp proof membrane and protective coating for concrete. It will allow the concrete to hydrate efficiently while at the same time providing a lasting protection against aggressive salts that may be present in ground water.
Advantages
- Improved curing of concrete, enhances cement hydration and provides a more durable concrete
- Easy to use – single component only requiring stirring before use, No heating is required
- Safe to use – water based, containing no harmful solvents, No risk of fire
- Chemical resistance – resists attack from chlorides and sulphates in ground water
Standards compliance
Concure DPM complies with water retention requirements of ASTM C309.
Description
Concure DPM is a rubber reinforced bitumen emulsion based curing compound. When first applied to a fresh cementitious surface the product forms a dark brown continuous non-penetrating coating.
This coating dries to form a black flexible continuous film which provides a barrier to moisture loss ensuring more efficient cement hydration, improved durability and reduced shrinkage. It then remains in place providing a permanent damp proof membrane which resists the passage of aggressive salts that are present in ground water, providing lasting protection to the concrete.

Design criteria
Concure DPM is designed for application in two coats to achieve a total dry film thickness of approximately 100 microns.
Properties
Drying time | : | 3 hours @ 20°C |
Overcoating time | : | 3 hours minimum |
Instructions for use
Surface preparation
All surfaces must be clean and free from dirt, stains, oils, grease or form coating which may otherwise prevent adhesion of Concure DPM to the concrete. All loosely adhering particles must be removed.
Application
Concure DPM should be well stirred before use. Application should be made to the surface of concrete by brush or squeegee at a rate of 6 m2 per litre per coat. Two coats should be applied, allowing the first coat to dry completely before applying the second. The second coat should be applied at right angles to the first. All applications should be continued up verticals to existing damp proof course. Ensure that the membrane is not punctured or damaged during any subsequent operations.
Overcoating
Where slab surface is to receive a render or plaster finish a keyed surface should be formed by gritting the second coat of Concure DPM with clean dry sand. Allow a minimum drying period of 48 hours before plastering, rendering or laying of a floor screed. Damaged areas of Concure DPM can be readily overcoated to restore the continuity of the membrane.
Estimating
Supply
Concure DPM | : | 20 & 210 litre drums |
Fosroc Solvent 102 | : | 4 & 20 litre packs |
Coverage
Concure DPM | : | 6.0 m2/litre @ 165 micron wft per coat |
Note: Coverage rates outside this recommended range may be used if necessary and suitable to meet specific requirements. Contact the Fosroc Technical Service department for advice in such cases.
Storage
Concure DPM and Fosroc Solvent 102 have a shelf life of 6 months minimum if kept in a dry store between 5ºC and 30ºC in the original, unopened containers. Freezing or prolonged exposure to direct heat or direct sunlight must also be avoided. Storage outside these guidelines will impair shelf life. Do not use if evaporated or thickened.

Precautions
Health & safety
Concure DPM and Fosroc Solvent 102 should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of vapours and ensure adequate ventilation. Suitable protective gloves and goggles should be worn.
Some people are sensitive to resins and solvents. Barrier creams such as Kerodex Antisolvent or Rozalex Antipaint provide additional skin protection. Should accidental skin contact occur remove immediately with a resin removing cream such as Kerocleanse Standard Grade Skin Cleanser or Rozaklens Industrial Skin Cleanser, followed by washing with soap and water – do not use solvent. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. If swallowed seek medical attention immediately – do not induce vomiting.
For further information consult the Safety Data Sheet available for this product.
Fire
Concure DPM is non flammable. Fosroc Solvent 102 is flammable. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. In the event of fire, extinguish with CO2 or foam. Do nut use a water jet.
