Description
Epoxy resin fairing coat and blow hole filler Uses
Nitomortar FC(B) is designed for application to blow holes and surface imperfections in concrete surfaces. It is suitable for application in thicknesses greater than 3 mm, and can be used in the following situations:
- Filling blow holes prior to overcoating
- General reprofiling over large areas up to thicknesses greater than 3 mm
Advantages
- Cost effective – reduces usage of subsequent coatings
- Cost effective – can be part mixed to suit repair areas
- High performance – excellent chemical resistance, strong adhesion to concrete substrate
- User friendly – easy to apply and finish, manufactured to meet local conditions
Description
Nitomortar FC(B) is a two component thixotropic, solvent free, compound based upon epoxy resins, graded fillers and thixotropic agents.
It is applied directly to concrete substrates without the use of a primer, and cures to a surface ready for over coating. The base component is light grey coloured and the hardener black to ease identification of uniform mixing.
Nitomortar FC(B) is designed for filling blow holes and irregularities prior to the application of subsequent coatings. It can be applied in thicknesses greater than 3 mm.

Instructions for use
Substrate preparation
Concrete surfaces should be clean, dry and free from laitance. All blow holes should be ‘opened up’ to avoid the creation of air pockets. This is best achieved by sandblasting or mechanical wire brushing, as necessary.
Mixing
Care should be taken to ensure that Nitomortar FC(B) is thoroughly mixed to produce a fully homogeneous paste.
The ‘hardener’ and ‘base’ components should be stirred thoroughly in order to disperse any settlement before mixing them together.
The two components should be mixed together in a 1:1 ratio, by volume, until a uniform consistency and grey colour is achieved.
Application
Due to the easy workability of the product, a variety of instruments such as trowel, scraper or filling knife can be used. After mixing, material can be taken directly from the can, or subdivided onto spot boards for individual applicators.
Nitomortar FC(B) can be overcoated with all epoxy coatings after a minimum curing period of 24 hours. Prior to overcoating, the fully cured surface should be dust-free.
Cleaning
Nitomortar FC(B) should be removed from tools, equipment and mixers with Fosroc Solvent 102* immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
Limitations
- Nitomortar FC(B) should not be exposed to moving water during application
- Exposure to heavy rainfall prior to final set may result in surface scour
If any doubt arises concerning temperature or substrate condition, consult the local Fosroc office.

Estimating
Supply
Nitomortar FC(B) : 4.0 litre packs
Fosroc Solvent 102 : 4 & 20 litre cans
Coverage & yield
Coverage of Nitomortar FC(B) is wholly dependant upon surface conditions, site trials are therefore recommended to ascertain actual usage on uneven substrates.
Storage
12 months if kept in unopened tins and stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Store in dry conditions in the original, unopened containers. If stored at high temperatures the shelf life may be reduced to 4 – 6 months.
Precautions
Health and safety
Some people are sensitive to epoxy resins so gloves and barrier creams such as Kerodex 71, Rozalex 9, Debba-Wet work or similar should be used when handling these products. If contact with the resin occurs, it must be removed before it hardens with a resin removing cream such as Rozalex 42 or Kerocleanse 22 followed by washing with soap and water. Do not use solvent. Avoid contact with skin and inhalation of vapours. Gloves and overalls should be worn. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying process. If the eyes are contaminated, wash out with water for at least 10 minutes and seek medical attention at once.
For further information, refer to the product materials safety data sheet.
Fire
Nitomortar FC(B) is non-flammable. Fosroc Solvent 102 is flammable. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. In the event of fire extinguish with CO2 or foam. Do not use a water jet.
