Provides a high efficiency, spray-applied curing compound, to retain water within concrete repairs. It is suitable for all forms of repair, and is of particular benefit for large areas, including:

• Columns and other vertical elements
• Soffits and other overhead elements
• Floor slabs
• General patch repairs

Specification

The high efficiency, curing compound shall be Rendercure, a low viscosity, curing agent specifically designed for application to cementitious concrete repairs and supplied by Fosroc. It shall further have a curing efficiency of not less than 90%, when tested in accordance with BS 7542.

Description

Rendercure is a low viscosity, curing compound. It is supplied as a single component, white liquid which dries to form a clear film and is ready for immediate on-site application. Rendercure is applied, by spray or brush, to fresh cementitious repair surfaces at a coverage rate of 5.0 to 8.0 m² per litre.

It creates a continuous film-forming, moisture barrier; which ensures optimum cement hydration, improving durability and controlling drying shrinkage.

Properties

Instructions for use

Rendercure should be gently stirred immediately before use, to ensure even dispersal of the pigment. It should be applied immediately after the surface of the repair has been ‘closed’.

Rendercure may be applied by brush or spray, with the spray nozzle being held approximately 450 mm from the concrete surface. Application should pass back and forth to ensure complete coverage.

When first applied, the product forms a non-penetrating white coating across the concrete surface. The coating cures to form a clear film, which then provides the moisture barrier to enable effective, concrete curing.

Cleaning

All tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately after use by flushing with water. Cured material can only be removed by mechanical means.

Limitations

Rendercure should not be applied onto dry surfaces, which may lead to absorption and staining which will be difficult to remove at a later date.

Storage

When stored in warehouse conditions below 35°C, Rendercure has a minimum shelf life of 6 months. Freezing and exposure to heat and/or direct sunlight should be avoided. Containers should be kept sealed and airtight to prevent any reduction in shelf life.

Precautions

Health and safety

Rendercure does not fall into the hazardous classifications of current regulations. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin or eyes, in either spray or bulk form. Suitable protective gloves and goggles should be worn at all times.

Splashes on the skin should be removed with water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed seek medical attention immediately – do not induce vomiting.

Fire

Rendercure is non-flammable.

Cleaning and disposal

Spillages of Rendercure should be absorbed onto sand, earth or vermiculite and transferred to suitable containers. Remnants should be hosed down with large quantities of water.

The disposal of excess or waste material should be carried out in accordance with local legislation, under the guidance of the local waste regulatory authority.
